TEXT: ICORINTHIANS 6:19, 31
Preambles: When we talk about commitment, we often think about how it applies to our personal relationship with our spouses. Commitment comes in many forms, and the Bible talks in depth about these forms. The scripture reminds us that we need to commit to the spiritual path we have chosen and not be swayed by those who try to deter us from that path. There are numerous references in the Bible addressing the Christian’s commitment in various aspects of life. Christians have to be committed to their families, neighbours, employers, the church, their health, and in all things that they do and say (Eph. 6:5; Heb. 10:25; 1cor. 6:19, 31).
We must understand that the chief commitment of our lives is to God Himself. Jesus said: ‘‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the greatest and first commandment’’ (Mathew 22:37-38). Jesus is telling us here that every fiber of our being, every facet of our lives must be committed to loving and serving God. Furthermore, Jesus tells us that our commitment to Him must supersedes our commitment to our families and jobs (Luke 14:26-27).
WHAT IT MEANS TO BE COMMITTED TO God
1.       It means that Jesus is our sole authority, our guiding light, and our unerring compass.
2.       Being committed to Christ means being fruitful
3.       It means being a servant (Mk.10:45; Mat.20:25-26; Phil.2:3-4).
4.       Doing the work of God with joy even when it is not convenient.
5.       Putting in your best for the Lord
6.       Working for God without becoming weary.

BIBLICAL FACTS ABOUT COMMITMENT
1.       1 Kings 8:61 says: ‘‘Your hearts must be fully committed to the Lord our God, to live by His decrees and obey His command.’’ Every Christian must be committed to avoid growing weary.
2.       Galatians 6:9. ‘‘Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.’’
3.       II Chronicles 15:7 says:  ‘‘Be strong and do not give up for your work will be rewarded.
4.       2Timothy 2:3 says: ‘’ Endure hardship with us like a good soldier of Christ Jesus.’’
5.       Hebrews 10:36: ‘’You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.
6.       1Timothy 4:16 says, ‘’ Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.’’
7.       Generally speaking, to be committed to Christ means to be up and doing in our services to God. It also means that we must be ready to act like servants or ‘sheep’.
Finally, let everyone of us examine our lives whether we are genuinely committed to the God and His Church.
